That's a well made observation from Anglo Italian about Kendo never topping the bill. Main Masks theory for this seems pretty credible to me. I'm not convinced about the Lincoln legacy. For one thing I'm not sure if Lincoln played an active part in the management of Paul Lincoln Promotions following the merger. It's more likely Kendo didn't get the billing for Main Mask's reasoning and The Outlaw did because he was a trusted player for Dale Martins.
Adding a bit more to the melting pot I believe another reasoning for Nagasaki's support billing is that at that time he was not seen as a long term masked man. There were members of Joint Promotions who saw him in the short term until after the 1971 Howes tv match.

I do agree with you about those matches, both very well made by the promoter. The Germans in tag are to die for? And would the serious, dour professor play ball for Kellett's show?
No problems dismantling my theory with evidence and yours is crystal clear.
Nevertheless, as you would say, the thick plottens. We agree Nagasaki didn't go top of the bill but The Outlaw did.
Something was holding Naggers back.
Prejudice of "some" kind? Too young? Not a tv name?
I think there may be a point to unearth here about Kendo Nagasaki on Paul Lincoln bills.
Have you noticed he is never top of the bill_
This could reflect that Lincoln wanted Dr Death to remain the only masked man worthy of top of the bill status, and even here in the 1967/69 period he wanted no-one to detract from his legacy.
Meanwhile, he just couldn't get enough of Mick McManus. That merger must have been very hunky dory all round.
Lovely stuff, Main Mask.
The 10/6 does have significance. It looks like it was the price competing promoters all stuck at. And that's the price in the pre-watershed Greenford bill.
As soon as they merged with Dale Martins, they lost no time in upping the prices, even doubling to a guinea as in East Ham.
Paul Lincoln seeing this must have been livid in 1967.
From Dale Martin's point of view it was clearly a strategy that had worked and now they could take liberties with a near-monopoly in Greater London.
