I'd like to thank this group for this weeks newsletter regarding Mario Magisti. He's not a wrestler I ever saw, but it's one wrestler my dad used to talk about, when he visited our town when the fair was on, and the wrestling boxing booths. My dad used to say he was a dirty bugger and nobody that took him on could beat him. I would think this would be late 40's in Knottingley west Yorkshire. It was nice to get some information about him. Stay safe everyone.

Snap shot of Mario as early as 1936 here on the under card at Hull.
Also in Nottingham below.
Researching my family tree I've just found out Mario was my grandfather, my mum never knew him or her siblings and she was adopted at a very young age after being left at Paddington hospital by her mother. There were 4 or 5 kids, we are still searching records etc.
The wrestling Booth Mario wrestled for in the 1940s was Professor Bosco's boxing and wrestling booth
Thanks Main Mask. That's the first photo I've seen of Mario.
Have a look now.
Nice Piece on MARIO!-We don't seem to have a Photo?

Can I wish all members well during their confinement, there's lots of wrestling on youtube, to help pass the time
What a great story Yorkie. Thanks very much. Sam Betts (Dwight) tells the story of promoter Mario offering to pay a wrestler a handful of notes for a match. Anyone expecting five pounds was disappointed because Mario only had three fingers.
You and all other readers take care too. We know of three members directly affected by the virus, there may well be others. Some of our members are now confined indoors for the next twelve weeks at least, and we will all have time to get those jobs around the house done. Take care everyone, and let us know how you are getting on.
