He is around throughout the year, from January.....more appearances after October. This all fits with our Liverpool man being him.....he never appears on the same night.
This report suggests Bartelli and the Masked Man are different people. A huge time lapse since The Masked Man was last seen. Can we believe the report.
He carries on into 1953 Bill and then goes missing. I think there is a chance that this was Bartelli early in his career. I don't find Bartelli and Masked Man on the same bill anywhere.
Here is a typical billing of Bartelli at that time.
It's just a guess though Bill. No proof whatsoever.
Yes the thing with Liverpool is that it was Best Promotions and billing and advertising seems to be a little different to what Wryton would do. It was very much a partnership , but if it was at Liverpool then Wryton were a very silent partner. Bartelli and Ghoul were the main masked men at this time. There were others and many short term for Bartelli to unmask , but I don't think Bartelli did much in the South at this stage so his area of fame was relatively small. No proof he was "The Masked Man" , I think we just have to leave it open.
Here's That MASKED MAN Again at LIVERPOOL Stadium On FRIDAY 6TH JULY

You have to laugh at this , after the masked man was unmasked , look how they billed him next.
That's what I like about wrestling.
The Masked Man Idea had been done at the Stadium in 1936.
Here he is. Looks like it had worked well and had been copied.
He only had a short run and was unmasked by Tony Baer. It was Louis Pergantes.

You are right Ron, all over the north but not at liverpool. Couple at Leicester, which i was doing two days ago......
Bartelli appeared at Liverpool 1953.......that report is wrong
It's a possibility but not conclusive either way.
We do know though that Best promotions did have a track record to slightly changing names, e.g. Robert McDonald billed as Hugh, Zimba as Nigel.
Great sleuthing, gents.
I'm prepared to believe it was Bartelli. A typical wrestling denial to put us off the scent.
They bill Leo Demetral from America, which is pointless. The promoter seems to be an inveterate liar.
I'm just wondering whether the whole thing was set up so that The Masked Man could be unmasked. I wonder if that happened at Liverpool?

And Here's That MASKED MAN-at LIVERPOOL STADIUM 1951!!
Could he Really be One of The Other Wrestlers On This Bill-Fighting TWICE!!
