Wrestling Promoters were Notorious for Continually 'Conjuring-Up' ANGLES!!
All Designed to 'Big Up' Contests and Lend Weight to Certain Matches!!-So TOM CHARLES
has come up with a 'Pearler' here!!
The Top Referee-MAX WARD-Who was obviously so 'Enraged' by his Ring Tactics/Antics-
has -it seems- Decided to Take DOCTOR DEATH to Task-along with Taking DD's Mask after
giving him a 'Sound Beating'!!
Now Many Wrestlers were also Referees-and MAX WARD had a Few 'Spotlight' Grudge Matches
against SID COOPER!-But to 'Inflate' WARD's 'Credentials' for This Contest-CHARLES has
Elevated MAX to the Lofty Position of EX-BRITISH MID-HEAVYWEIGHT Champion!!-Really??
But just for One Day of course!!
But even in Mid 1965...Who would have BELIEVED this 'Claim'-Not MIKE MARINO for One-Who
was Working for PAUL LINCOLN at This Very Same Time!!-Nor NORMAN WALSH...Nor.......

Love that Picture and the background. I could always kill half an hour standing somewhere like that.
Max Ward didn't just get enraged for Tom Charles. It happened all over the place. Max must have had a short fuse.
Tom Charles is a real mystery to me. I have one program from the 60s that uses the DeMarto template. The show mixed wrestling and kick boxing bouts.
Re: Max Ward this is all I have at the moment. His "title" was only occasionally mentioned by Paul Lincoln et al on bills.
Midland Area 15st / Light Heavyweight Title Max Ward - Billed as 15st champ of the Midlands in 1951.
Then I found Norman Carter billed as champion by the end of 1951, and Reg Williams in 1952.
Facing Dr Death on Friday the Thirteenth: scary!
Somehow I don't think MAXY BABY Won This Contest!!
