I always enjoyed seeing Monty at Liverpool Stadium in the Brian Dixon days. He was usually the blue eye but occasionally the villain. He was never, as far as I remember, the top of the bill but was a very significant part of the show who always seemed to perfectly fulfil the roles he had
Very sad news. I saw him a couple of times for Joint but the match that really was a riot was when he partnered Bob Bell against the Outlaw and Dr Death. Not the real Outlaw and Dr Death but a great match. It took good uns like Monty to make a villain soooh bad.
Monty was one of the good guys in wrestling both in and out of the ring. He was a great wrestler and a good friend over many years. RIP and condolences to the family and on behalf of Ian Wilson and Mark Wayne, two of Monty's friends. Eddie Rose.
I'm sorry to hear this. Monty did a few shows for me in my promoting period between '76 and '87. He was usually the blue eye but could also do a spot of villainy if required. The consummate professional!
Sad news indeed. Oddly, I had just brought his name up about a week ago in the “Wrestlers from Liverpool” topic.

It's a great shame.
He was there at the start of the Pallo-McManus Feud back in 1962.
He wasn't even on our list of Sixties Great Still With Us. We're good. Not.
R.I.P.
