When GWYNN DAVIES became British Heavyweight Champion after the Retirement from
the Ring of ALBERT WALL-He entered the Squared Circle wearing a DIFFERENT
Championship Belt-This can be seen in the Match against DENNIS MITCHELL still on
You Tube!-His Successor TONY ST. CLAIR also inherited this BELT when becoming
Champion! This was NOT the Original MORRELL MOUNTEVANS BELT!!
Was ALBERT WALL allowed to KEEP his Mountevans Heavyweight Belt?-If not..........
Why the change?-At the time it seems the OTHER Original Morrell Belts were still in use?!
Who knows?-Was this 'New'Belt just an 'upgraded variant??
MAIN MASK
I see that's the photo we are talking about.
Ok, this one does look like Morell's Mountevans Gold Belt. Dave Taylor's Belt.
no way it was British title...
original Colbeck's Mount Evans Belt.
Looks like some promoter purchased original British lightweight Mount Evans belt held by Colbeck and renamed it into World belt so Jim Breaks held it as well. Morell's belt looks like someone worked on it.
Looks remodeled.
Jimmy's looked similar, yet different, still too many international flags on it. I am assuming both belts belonged to the same promotion and were symbolic of some Euro or World title.
The thing is...good chance that there was no such a trophy as British Hwt Title belt anymore. I agree with Hack more likely Morell took the belt with him. But we know what happened to original Mount Evans Hwt Belt...Ernie Baldwin 'retired' it. So yes there's a chance that Wall also 'retired' his trophy.
I don't know how expensive were Morell's Belts, I do know for sure that Baldwin's Hwt Belt was piece of art and very expensive.
here's photo of Tony with old Relwyskow Promotion's belt aka Norman Walsh World Heavy Mwt Belt.
Thanks so much for the post, appreciate. Is this the belt we talk about? Too many international flags on this belt for it to be British Hwt Title belt. I see flags of Canada, USA, Germany, France, Italy, can't be British Hwt Title.
It's more likely to do with time. When Rocky won the belt Norman Morrell was in charge. By the time Davies became champion Morrell had retired and taken back his belt.
