I particularly enjoyed Thundercloud and Whitecloud as a villainous tag team.Saw them mid-seventies versus Bill Howes and Tibor at Liverpool Stadium.A very rough bout indeed.Which Native American wrestlers did you enjoy?
As far as I know, I saw the earlier (Hack?) Chief Thunderbird first on a Wednesday, which was unusual for me.
It was the 21st March 1951 fighting Jim Hussey.
I liked the fight because Thunderbird was totally different to anything that I had seen before, just as Masambula was.
You probably know the script before I tell you, but Thunderbird with lots of his chops , war dances and normal native American Indian behaviour took the first fall with his Indian Deathlock(on the leg !)
before Hussey got his wild up and retaliated with plenty of punches.
Expected result now,he was disqualified by Les Kellett.
Feeling at the time, disappointment , because it had ended .
The wrestler Chief Thunderbird (UK) was born in Poland, but lived in Manchester. I met him on a couple of occasions at Grant Foderingham’s Gym. As he had a Mohican haircut, he would always wear a beret when walking along the streets.
Hi Powerlock. The A-Z gives Thundercloud as Hispanic. Not sure about Whitecloud, but yes, wonder how many were actually native American.Think they lost on DQ at Liverpool if I remember correctly.
I saw them against Jackie Pallo and Black Jack Mulligan. Did they lose by dq in every bout. I wasn't
particularly impressed by Billy Two Rivers, not a lot apart from the wardance and tomahawk chops. Apart from Billy I wonder how many were actually native Americans
Big Chief Ben and Orig took on The Klondyke Bros, in the BBC Documentary (Excellent by the way) which can be seen on Youtube
Here's Big Chief Ben and Orig Williams
And to think that all these Thunderbirds stem from a 1930s red Indian actor whose name really was Thunderbird.

Ben Watijeski, mentioned by Phil, is the one most of us will remember, but there was also an earlier Thunderbird.

Cheers
Johnny War Eagle stands out by a mile for me. Forget his benign tv showing, he was absolutely evil.
