Johnny Allan did not beat Walsh in a title fight until December 1964, after Walsh's car accident.

Norman Walsh had held the title for most of the time since it was brought in by Norman Morrell in 1952.

In the later years of Walsh's reign the 2 most creditable challengers were Johnny Allan and Geoff Portz.

Both eventually held the title for a short time before Mike Marino,who held it for ages. (See the other thread .)

These two had a rivalry that went on a long time. Confusingly they traded both the British Mid-Heavyweight title and World Mid-Heavyweight title (using the same belt most likely) back and forth.
