I just thought that i would begin a section for fans who have some wrestling trivia but don't know where to include it on the site, be it a photograph or article. Below is my first entry. From a March 1969 edition of the TV Times came a section dedicated to cooking with the stars which included Mr and Mrs Pallo.

Agreed, this has been a great one. One for the purists!
Great stuff, as always, and thank you (as always) for sharing.
Part 2.
This time from October 1975.
And finally page 4.
Page 3.
Page 2.
Next is a 4 page feature from the TVTimes in January 1975, the magazine chose 7 celebrities to portray an imaginary wrestler.
Here's an odd one from the TVTimes in 1974, a group of wrestlers make an attempt on The Guinness World Record to smash up a piano in record time. Much like this achievement many of the strange and weird triumphs featured between the pages of the afore mentioned book have me wondering why bother or what's the point. The title of the article is "Gargantua Smashes Up Honky Tonk" I thought it meant Big Jim Moran had duffed up the Dick Emery character Clarence! 😉
Clarence
Oh Hello Honky Tonks how are you nice to see!
Was Johnny Kwango really a ballet dancer?
From a 1975 edition of the TVTimes referee Larry Grayson attempts to separate Neil Sands & Prince Kumali. I wonder if Neil remembers this picture and the show he appeared in with PK?
Great stuff!, wonder how much of that was real and how much was made up? I ask because it has both Mike Marino and George Gordienko as 5ft 11" tall. I would have sworn that big George was taller.
And finally.........
The following was a monster wrestling feature by the "TVTimes" and was spread over 4 weeks between February-March 1972.Entitled 'Kent Walton's Top 50" the item was intended to be a wee folded booklet featuring 50 wrestlers who have appeared on television during that era. The booklet contained a black & white illustration of each man accompanied by a morsel of information about them. The illustrations are actually pretty good, and recognisable apart from poor Steve Veidor who in my opinion have made resemble an unflattering hybrid of Herman Munster & Worzel Gummidge poor fella. Enjoy.
Just returning to the headline above IS WRESTLING RIGGED?
This must have been music to the ears of the promoters. It sounds like one wrestler would throw a fight underhandedly, for money. Like prize fighters were often accused of.
In so doing it affirms the validity of the 100% of a competitive sport, merely tarnished by a few dirty rotten scoundrels.
Love it!
I was awake one night, late 80's, with a crying baby, so I let me wife have a rest and I took the baby downstairs, it was about 2am, and switched the TV on, for background noise, and this match came on, from Florida (I think)
The younger Jackie Pallo never achieved the wonderful things predicted
Part 3.
Part 2.
From an edition of the TVTimes from January 1972 comes the following article titled "Another Magnificent Seven." The Seven being youngsters/newcomers tipped for the top by the magazine. The TVTimes loved Jackie Pallo during the 1960s to early 70s, he frequently appeared between it's pages for one reason or another so little wonder they're predicting Jackie Jnr as a star of the future.
Now the bonus part of this article is that it also features a young Jackie Turpin who would later turn to a career in the pro wrestling ring.
Touring Team "Orig Williams early 1980s.
Wrestlers The Generous People: TVTimes again November 1971
From a copy of a March 1972 TVTimes comes the first of a comic style 2 parter. Unfortunately i've yet to find the second part in my collection, but i'll keep looking.
Thanks for posting. As I have said before, my Mum used to buy the TV Times on a Friday morning, and I would run home from school on Friday lunchtime, read it, to see who was on World of Sport on Saturday, and then go back to school after lunch, to tell my mates. Happy days!
"Would You Let Your Daughter Marry A Wrestler?" That's what the TVTimes asks way back in September 1971. The 3 page article (4 if you include the front cover) compliments a television play to be shown that week called 'The Wedding Gift.'
Here's an interesting one from Norman Berry writing in a Joint Promotions programme. Interesting because a few months earlier Twentieth Century Promotions had been independents working in opposition to Joint.
Great stuff, as always, thank you for sharing. That must be quite a TV Times collection you have!
Now from January 1963 again The Wrestler an article titled "Tough Guy Control Your Temper." Reminds me of the Harry Enfield character Chumley Warner's quotes such as "Ladies Know Your Place."
A bit of an "odd" one next Aquatic Wrestling taken from the February 1964 copy of 'The Wrestler.'
Here's another Wigan lad Cliff Belshaw featured in a March 1965 edition of the TVTimes .
This time Dickie faces up to Jackie Pallo from the October 1963 edition of "The Wrestler."
All the way back to March 1963 entertainer Dickie Henderson gets his own column in the TVTimes and talks wrestling!
The top of the bill mirrored the FA Cup Final itself.North versus south West Ham versus Preston North End.
From the F.A. Cup final copy of the "TVTimes" May 1964 comes the following articles based on a tag showdown between the teams of The Royals and McManus/Logan combination. Spread over 4 pages including the front cover wrestling featured more greatly in the magazine than the actual cup final itself!
From the July 1962 edition of "The Wrestler" came the following article 'The Fair Sex and Wrestling.'
Tony Hayhurst World Champion Cumberland wrestler, from the April 1962 edition of "The Wrestler."
There are photos of Arthur Green in the US.
From the TVTimes dated August 27 1961 "Wrestling Returns To ITV."
Wonderful work Ost!
You've done it again Ost.I applaud your energy, and knowledge,Thank You
How to film a wrestling match, the cover story of Amateur Cine World magazine, Jan 16, 1964:
From the March 1969 edition of "The Wrestler." Perhaps shades of Charles Atlas and his Dynamic Tension.
Taken from the January 1969 edition of "The Wrestler."
The above film has been aired on a few occasions on Talking Pictures TV channel .Not a bad movie either, the above action moves from the ring to a spectator punch up outside the ring watched by a bemused Jackie Pallo and his opponent.
From the "TV Times" special feature 25 Years Of ITV Wrestling Kent Walton's top 5 heroes & villains.
WRESTLER BECOMES LAZARUS !!!!!!!
From the November 1962 edition of " The Wrestler."
And below following Bulldog Bill Garnon's resurrection in the January 1963 edition of the same magazine.
Nowt like seeing your own epitaph lol. I think Bill Garnon still had around 20 years left before shedding his mortal coils. Another all time great, i bet after the initial shock he laughed at this faux pas.
The following was an advertisment regularly published in "RINGSPORT" during the 1970s which as i got older brought a smile to my face. Entitled 'Exciting Photographs' i often imagined the Les Dawson character Cosmo Smallpiece sending for these collections.
Below, taken from the TV Times special in 1980 "25 Years Of ITV Wrestling" a chat with the better halves. Mrs. McManus, Barnes & Rocco, along with Chris Adams girlfriend at the time Jean Clarke.
Yes agreed, it’s Clayton Thompson.
Looks like Clay to me too.
Great stuff, and yes, that amount of money, if true, was extraordinary in those days.
Below from the 16th November 1968, TV Times again, but a much larger article which goes to show the popularity of both Professional wrestling at the time, and British and European Heavyweight champion Billy Robinson who made regular appearances in that magazine.
Is that really Barry Douglas arm wrestling with Billy Robinson in the above picture? I could be wrong but it looks more like Clayton Thomson to me?
The statistics make for interesting reading also. Earnings of between £200-£350 a week in 1968 is phenomenal. I think the average man on the street probably only made between £20-£30 per week during that era.
Another TV Times article from January 29th 1956 discussing British Professional wrestling, quite a few well known names of the era mentioned here.
Great to see Trixie with all mod cons, 1969-style.
Great stuff. Thanks alanapaily for starting this interesting forum topic. I'm sure there are more articles to come!
Cheers
Splendid Alan. The thought of Jackie in the kitchen must make a few of our Christmases. Here's Kent again

Actress Jill Summers love of professional wrestling. January 1970 (TV Times)
Below is an article from February 1970 about a member of the children's show MAGPIE wrestling with none other than Mike Marino! (Tv Times)
Next is Kent Walton in October 1969 featured in a TV Times Quiz!
Below Kent Walton (TV Times again) is commentating on Amateur Wrestling from May 1956.
And finally Kent again (from the TV Times) from August 1957 Introducing a fifteen minute music series.
