Nights at the wrestling on 13th January, starting with a night out in Blackpool in 1939.
In Belfast in 1961 George Connell promotes in conjunction with George De Relwyskow. Doug Joyce and Billy Howes could well have been a lively scrap.
Returning across the Irish Sea to Hull in 1969. Who was the Strangler?
Don't know te666x. He wasn't around long.
Spectacular eh? Its good to know Anglo Italian hasn't lost his sense of humour in the last two years.
Outstanding quantity and quality above.
Shall we top it off with a Hastings spectacular? As it were....
Wrestling overseas today, Chris Adams fought to a draw with Billy Jack Haynes, in Salem, Oregon, USA, on this day in 1983.
On our TV screens, on this day in 1971:-

Going on other peoples comments about Torontos the comedian it does seem odd Jack. I only saw him on TV and didn't find him funny.
Look at the Bristol poster and theres Catweazel and Billy Torontos. That seems a strange match to me having two comedians fighting one another.
Anglo Italian
Sloppy billing of Ivor Barrett from "Ireland" - when the show is in Ireland.
Very true Anglo. They could have at least billed him from Dublin and then it would have been a "Terrific International Contest." It would have to be Terrific because they'd already used up Sensational, Smashing and Thrilling." Promoters had their own Adjectives Department.

I like the juxtaposition of pantomime and wrestling. Francis Sullivan "Has especially asked to meet Bill Hope." I wonder why. Maybe to find out who he was. Or mistakenly expecting another Hope.
We've commented before that bills in Abertillery, a town in south Wales, were so North of England.

A surprising tag team of Kendall and Swann.
Odd matchmaking in Bolton with Thomson and Foley both taking on heavyweight opponents. Foley against Thompson would have been a good match.
It's nice to see Crabtree down the bill at a time that Morrell was having him knock everyone over in one or two rounds. I do remember Bartelli complaining that he was on against Albert Wall (admittedly far superior to this Crabtree one) and Kellett was given top of the bill status.
Just a thought regarding "The Strangler versus Amarjit Singh"; The Strangler could have been Bill Clarke. I sometimes billed him as The Boston Strangler (which, of course, he was) and the distance between Boston, Lincs, and Leicester isn't a huge one which would have allowed both men to travel together. I think it's the first time I've seen Amarjit billed without Jogindah in tow.
Our own Chris Adams was overseas, on this day in 1983, drawing with US Wrestler, Billy Jack Haynes, in Salem, Oregon, for the Pacific North West promotion.
On our TV screens, on this day in 1968.
