A KO win for Crabtree, in this return contest, with The Monster, (Big John Wade), unmasking. Popocopolis beat Taylor, Hughes beat Barnes and a draw for McCree and Heiden. 1961.
NAUGHTY, NAUGHTY INDIES On December 14th 1968 Bill Clark’s Starr Promotions fielded his last bash of the year to action-hungry fans in Holbeach. Some interesting indy wool-pulling going on. Firstly, topping the bill is a slightly less stocky indy Outlaw. Gordon Nelson had packed his bag a few months earlier that year, and the indies didn’t wait for an official vacancy to arise. They created their own Outlaws in the wink of an eye. (Bill's indy Outlaw below is pictured against Docker Don at a different Bill Clark promotion the same month. The referee is Bill Clark's business partner Les Lunn, who sometimes appears as Les Ray and one half of the Poachers after 'brother' Ron). I’m guessing this Outlaw
might have been Carl Dane. but I’m open to suggestions (it was a long time ago … 53 years in fact!). Back to the bill, and even his opponent is not straightforward … Bill blurs the question as to exactly which Mitchell we are talking about here. And this must have been one of Eric Sands’ last matches. A good, solid worker, Eric. (by the way I touch on Gordon Nelson’s comings and goings in Atlantic Crossings … under the TimeLine banner)
Very surprising to see this OVER THE TOP ROPE format at the white Rock, which was a stage set up with a 12 foot drop from the top rope. I don't think Kwango would have been having any of that with his dicky knee.
Clearly from the pen of Max Crabtree who apparently didn't visit his key venues....
Al Hayes v Jamaica Kid on Bridges v Roberts bill, that must have been a rare return visit for AL Hayes, perhaps one of his last visits home to wrestle ? When did he retire ? I wonder if he was wrestling villain then ?
Some great bills there and I am surpised to see McManus wrestling for Morrell in 1970, after the Preston affair. McManus must have held Morrell innocent?

That was the magic of wrestling. Forever young.
I love the comment for McMichael, he had been a pro for 11 years but was still billed as a young prospect .
On this day in 1990, the death of Ted Beresford.

The stuff of nightmares
