A couple of comments regarding Ron's post from Nov 14th last year.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which may have been Danny Flynn, we have since learned wore a mask. Also, that Gian Alexinis. He cropped up a few days ago and may have been the Canadian Alex Alexenis who came over to Britain in 1944 serving in the Canadian Air Force.
The Harrogate bill from Main Mask I do like, with four matches worth watching.
A good few of us will remember watching what's My Line. On this day Huddersfield wrestler Harry Brooks appeared on tv's "What's My Line," hosted by Eamonn Andrews. Gilbert Harding incorrectly guessed private detective before Lady Isabel Barnett found the right answer.
And I guess we should remember today would have been Shirley's birthday
A good programme there Gernot. On a good day the northern programmes were at their best, but editorial standards were inconsistent. George Mitchell was a regular contributor and he was usually good. Halcones D'Oro were a very colourful team that I saw just the once - made a very impressive entrance in their colourful costumes.
On our TV screens, from Wembley, on this day in 1970:-
Jon Cortez (1) v Sid Cooper (0)
Ian Campbell v George Gordienko (KO)
Brian Maxine (W) v Mark Rocco
1963 and Dale Martin were staging a charity show in London's West End at Cafe Royal: (another one for the types of venue topic)
14 November 1939
Birth of Andreas Svajik
Well I hope that bill was as good at the time as it looks in retrospect. And I would
have got in for a Bob.
Wrestling overseas today, Billy Howes, enjoying a night out in Paris (or maybe not, as he lost his bout).
On our TV screens, on this day in 1964: -
Dave Phillips (1) v Colin Joynson (0)
Mick McManus (W) v Terry Jowett
Julien Morice (1) v Peter Szakacs (1)
Thanks for mentioning my cousin, Eamonn Andrews.
Seeing Wall and Gwyn on the bill with Shirley does show us the fascination with him at the time.

Shirley Crabtree
As Chester was a Cape Promotion the Hunchback may well have been Danny Flynn, Ron, which does make the match less interesting.
I've just read that Jose Ficca died on August 9th, aged 84.

Here's Shirley working on his birthday
Another night at the Palais!!
An unusual opponent for Johnny Saint. That would have been a sight to see.
