The first of what was to be many so-called Governing Bodies was announced by Harry Simmonds, the promoter at the London Sports Club. Named as members of the Board were Lt. Col H.L.Morrow, referee Fred Davies and Mr C.C. Wykham Martin.
The Club programme stated: "Promoters advertising all-in wrestling with nothing barred are liable to prosecution. All-In wrestling means a combination of three styles and has definite rules which can be obtained from the British Board of Control." Although the Board claimed it was an independent and voluntary committee it was more of an attempt by Oakeley, Irslinger and a few associates to control wrestling in Britain, and an attempt that was to prove futile.
I was at The Ice Rink show and recall Mc.Manus and Logan versus Street and Barnes being particularly good with the majority of the crowd supporting The Angels although they fought their usual bout and did not attempt to pander to the crowd. I also saw Kellett versus Torontos at The De Montfort Hall, Leicester, with, on both occasions, Kellett doing very little and just allowing Torontos to wear himself out. If I recall correctly, both bouts were relatively short with, on both occasions, Kellett sidestepping near the ropes allowing Torontos to go crashing through them into a knockout. Unlike many on his final tour, I still found Two Rivers charismatic and exciting to watch and Yearsley was the ideal opponent for him.
@adrianpollard.shangri-la Splendid bill Main Mask. Dominic would get disqualified but we'd love it as he was on his way. Danny and Fred would be a hartd gritty match. Tunney and Zale two great light heavyweights who were as good as anyone on tv. The other two I don't know, though dave Sutherland once mentioned seeing Jock Burke in Newcastle.
Wrestling overseas on this day, in Canada, in 1976, Wild Angus (as Black Angus Campbell).

Love those Belfast bills. Always fascinating to see what they dished up overseas.
At Nottingham, four comics on one bill lacked balance. Fascinating to know how Kellett would have reacted to Torontos's routine(s).
