Hahaha, the Halifax hand on programme production....telling spectators at the far end of Hastings Pier jutting out into the English Channel that Jack Armstrong was from "The South". Admittedly a small point but a typical sign of widespread lack of awareness that was a hallmark of Crabtree Promotions.
Dusty appeared in parallel with Jack Armstrong. I saw him several times. But cannot remember him!
On his 1969 bill SaxonWolf lists Bridges beating Haggetty 2-0. These straight falls wins were such a rarity, far more common in the 1930s. I think more straight falls wins would make for greater authenticity; it was implausible that almost all matches ended 2-1.
Working overseas today, the 40+ stones mat monster, Giant Haystacks (as "Loch Ness") beat Shunji Takano, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, on this day in 1983.
