Eric Smith was from Bradford. He worked for both independents and Joint. On Joint he seemed to use his actual name Eric Smith but for the independents (although this is an independent) bill he was mostly known as Tony Andrassi. Although I've heard of Mike Holt I know little more than the name. I think he worked quite a bit for Cyril Knowles and Ron Farrar.
The first item , Ron on St James Hall, was very interesting to me.
Just in case people reading it did not follow how you could change the position of the entrance, the old entrance on St Andrews Street became the fire exit at the back of the building.
It was also a means of escape for wrestlers who did not want to meet the public waiting outside the front entrance. Their lift would drive off and meet people round the back.
South African heavyweight Johannes Van Der Walt was shot and wounded by a policeman at a farmhouse near Krugersdorp, Transvaal. Van Der Walt, a commandant of the Ossewa-brandwag, an anti-British and pro-German organisation, was armed at the time and had escaped from custody in Johannesburg a few weeks earlier.
Notherners may be surprised that the sight of Mick McMichael on the bill makes it mildly exotic! He had yet to become "Popular" Mick McMichael. (cringe)
He really was so similar to McManus in girth, hair, name - was it his real name or did he start out as a copycat?
Kwango badly outweighted by the Romany Baron who, the promoters seemed not to notice, was 17 stones. And no sign of Robby Baron.
Czeslaw having to do his scowling in the final tag. Happy days ....
Working overseas on this day in 1972, Wild Angus was on the losing end in a match with Bob Geigel in Kansas City, USA (not surprising, as Bob Geigel was the promoter and he was the boss).
