Wrestling overseas today, Ray Glendenning came off second best in a match against Blackjack Mulligan, in Houston, Texas, on this day in 1973.
On our TV screens, on this day in:-
Les Kellett (W) v Lee Sharron
Bobby Ryan (0) v Paul Mitchell (1)
1960 Becontree. DeMarto Promotions
Will delete this tomorrow as personal. Thanks for your concern. Must be Crabtree's revenge.
The RAH bill may have been appealing at the time but it sure looks tired now. 16 well-known names, in most cases all too well known.
A bit of pack shuffling, the tag of interest though mismatched weights and a non-wrestler stretched credibility to the extremes. Marino thinking he was the best man to face Haystacks - probably put himself over, too.
All the erratic italics are just a superficial sign of what was going on.
Even the sequencing on the man bill of the year: both heavyweight bouts on before the interval. Ugh! Three of the other bouts could have been for titles, but all too difficult. Max and Mike probably didn't know who the champions were at that point.
Maybe I am a bit grizzly today (nod to the late Grizzled Veteran) because they cannot manage to vaccinate me for unfathomable reasons. They probably have my name in erratic italics ...
Thanks MM
From the inside of RAH programme.
Wrestling overseas on this day, our own Terry Rudge partnered with the legendary Andre the Giant and (as you would expect) ended up winning in a tag team match against Riki Choshu and Seiji Sakaguchi, in Kochi, Japan, on this day in 1977.
On our TV screens (the BBC) , on this day back in 1947, a certain Mick McManus made a black-and-white TV debut against Al Lipman.
Thanks MM,

Good point.
Doubling up wasn't a JP thing but it hits you between the eyes here.
The very thought of the "comedy" bout in Cheltenham has already spoilt my Wednesday.
