Wrestling overseas today is Jack Dale, of Dale Martin fame, Jack Dale beat Henri Cogan to claim the European Middleweight Title, in Paris, on this day in 1950.
On our TV screens, on this day, in 1964: -
Jan Kovacs (2) v Jim Hussey (1)
Keith Williamson (1) v Jim Mellor (1)
Al Brown v Ken Cadman
Billy Howes (1) v Josef Zaranoff (1)
I’m sure I saw the Kovacs v Hussey bout (above). My memory is of Kovacs winning by two submissions to nil. Hussey attempted a drop-kick, Kovacs caught him by the legs and turned him over for an immediate boston crab submission. Right away on the opening of the following round, Kovacs reached down and grabbed the now injured Hussey by the legs and repeated the submission move.
Wrestling overseas today, Barry Douglas was on the losing end of a bout against Bobby Gaetano, in Recklinghausen, Germany, on this day in 1976.
On our TV screens, on this day in 1970:-
Mick McManus v Alan Dennison
Andy Robin v Bobo Matu
Mick McMichael v Al Nicol
I remember Tony taking on Marty Jones at King's Lynn. He was also brave enough to battle Giant Haystacks in Peterborough.
It's a happy birthday to Tony St Clair

Some “Rock hard Canadian style” all the way from Bury.....
I have vague memories of Kovacs and good memories of Hussey. That is one I would have looked forward to. Howes and Zaranoff would have been good if Billy's eyes had turned red and he'd gone off in only the way he could. Here's a couple from this day
1958 in Bolton and it's that Bill Kenton from Shudenhill.
Twenty years later. Things have deteriorated and we have a dodgy masked man photo as well as a dodgy masked Zebra Kid. By now I would be losing the will to live.
