What a show!
In Leeds, 1962, Alan Colbeck beat Jackie Pallo, who was disqualified, Billy Two Rivers beat Dai Sullivan, The Mask stopped L’Ange Blanc (who was unmasked as Francisco Pino Farino) Albert Wall beat Jose Arroyo, Bernard Murray beat Alan Dennison.
The Billy Riley book source was Ray Plunkett, but that just doesn't make sense. Unless someone was actually there and can clarify.
Those Nottingham bills were great Adrian. Often seemed better than the Royal Albert Hall.
Curious to learn the result of the Francis Sullivan v Enrico Marques bout the "Billy Riley - Man and Legend" book reports Marques & Murray beating Sullivan and Dennison. All of which seems highly unlikely.
Great bills; I was probably seeing Torontos v Holton ....
Just noticed that the Jackie Pallo v Alan Colbeck was a 12 x 5 min. rounds contest. Very unusual to have 12 rounds, but as the result was a disqualification (probably in the 7th or 8th round?), we would be in the normal time limit for the whole show!!
Cheers
Our lad working overseas on this day, in 1983, is Mark "Rollerball" Rocco, under the mask as "Black Tiger", earning a draw with Japanese Wrestling legend, Tiger Mask, via a double count out. This was for Antonio Inoki's New Japan Pro Wrestling Promotion.
On our TV screens on this day in 1972, from Hemel Hempstead: -

Les Kellett (W) v Pete Roberts
