In 1973 at the ice Stadium in Nottingham was the first time I saw Kendo in a wrestling and judo match, also on the bill Albert ' Rocky' Wall versus Andy Robbins and a tag tournament featuring Mick McManus and Steve Logan, Les Kellett and Masambula Jackie Pallo and Leon Arras and Bert Royal and Vic Faulkner. Then went to school the following day.

For Op54 and Graham, here's the poster:
It's an incredible bill.
29 January 1952
In Dundee Chris Londos beat Alan Colbeck by two falls to one to win the European Welterweight Title.
Wrestling overseas today, Alan Garfield was on the losing end of a contest against Guy LaRose, in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA, on this day in 1955.
On our TV screens, on this day in 1972:-
Peter Szakacs (1) v Ken Joyce (1)
Les Kellett (W) v Pete Roberts
Billy Riley effectively supplied the wrestlers and ran the show in Colne , Nelson and Burnley.
I have commented on this particular show before so won't stay long. Just to add that Leon Arras was replaced by Jackie Pallo Jnr. The Pallos were defeated by The Royals and the team of Les Kellett and Masambula beat Mick Mc.Manus and Steve Logan by disqualification. Kellett and Masambula went on to beat The Royals by two falls to one with Kellett pinning Faulkner for the final fall. The judo match between Howes and Nagasaki was supervised by guest referee Al Marquette.
I went to lectures the following day. At the time I was studying at City of Leicester Teacher Training College.
