With hindsight we can say, of course he didn't. An example, though, of Joint advertising a wrestler they knew would not appear (well, not the genuine one) and that in 1963 they were getting nervous about Paul Lincoln.
In the 1960s Joint liked to give the impression the independents were an irrelevance that could simply be disregarded. Reality was they knew this was far from the truth.
In Dundee, "Doctor Death" did not appear and was replaced by Barry Douglas
