Man Mountain Bill Benny. There's a name that brings back memories and arouses emotions. A bearded bruiser who was more than capable of creating mayhem and a bit of crowd violence. The reddish brown beard and the girth made Benny a fearsome sight.....
Myers versus Kaye would be a bout. The four wrestlers in the knockout would be bouts two, three and four. Bout five would be the six man tag and bouts six and seven would be two members from each team in singles competition. This is a real quality line-up full of men who could actually wrestle. In my student days I spent many happy hours watching wrestling at The De Montfort Hall; mainly Morrell and Beresford promotions but Crabtree taking over in my final year. I remember some great bouts there and also some quite unusual ones such as Les Kellett versus Paul Mitchell and Jackie "Mr.TV" Pallo versus Lee Sharron. And there was an unusual tag with Johnny Kwango and Clive Myers facing the strange pairing of Bobby Ryan and Syd Cooper.
Settling into his tour Kendo works with Dan Kroffat who invented the ladder match.
Kendo brings it back to Britain along with Lumberjack matches. I saw both at Belle Vue.
Hurst is also there and noticed he got matches with Spiros Arion in the UK in 1979 so I expect he gained weight and considerable ability from his time in North America.
Lenny Hurst ended up wrestling in the Pacific North West, as The Calypso Kid, and then in WWWF under his own name, coming up against many of the big names at the time (Mr. Fuji, Stan Stasiak, George "The Animal" Steele, Jesse Ventura, Andre the Giant).
I remember Lenny Hurst's excellent bout with Adnan Al-Kassie on a televised Dale-Martin show and would love to have seen him face George "The Animal" Steele; one of my all-time favourites.

While Anglo knocks back his cheap red I will agree with you Bernard.
Well Anglo, you raised the query, have you any comments on what I proposed?
Nice One Bernard,on the ball as always
I think that this is how it would be done.
A draw for opponents Ryan and co. in singles matches. That's 2 matches.
The winners go through to WOS final.
Kaye match, that makes 3 matches.
The 6 men fight 3 singles with men nominated by the captains of each team. That makes 6 matches .
The final match is the 6 man tag ,to make the 7 matches as advertised.
Great photo of Clive Myers, did ge go on to read the news?
Bert the heaviest of 12 wrestlers?
I can't see how they'd make the seven bouts here. Any ideas?
John Naylor must have wondered what he'd done to deserve these partners:
Wrestling overseas, today, Roy St. Clair defeated Don Goya in Hannover, Germany, on this day in 1974.
On our TV screens, on his day in 1962:-
George Kidd v Johnny Eagle
Johnny Yearsley v Miquet Remiro
Steve Logan v Joe Keegan
