I agree entirely with you Ballymoss. Lord Bertie was a great entertainer and I don't think he would have been out of place on Joint rings. One thing I did hear was that Jack Atherton, who trained and tried out wrestlers for Joint, once said that Lord Bertie wrestled like a chair. I guess he wasn't impressed.
What a shame he was not used by Joint Promotions. When I saw him back in the early 1960's at Acton Town Hall the venue was packed to near full capacity.The reason -The audience had come to see the irrepressible Lord Bertie and Ponsonby.
Jack once told me that Bertie always looked so relaxed he could have been sitting in an arm chair; in Jack's opinion not good image for a wrestler. However, Bertie was a very good ring personality and always geed-up the fans. Eddie Rose
