Also Wrestling overseas today, in 1971, Lee Sharron (under his real name of Kevin Ramsden, although misspelt as Ramsten) took on local Greek wrestler, Theodoros Megaritis, at the Apostolos Nikolaidis Football Stadium, in Athens, Greece (the home of Panathinaikos Football Club).
He was billed as the "reigning European champion", and of course, lost the title to the local Greek lad. The crowd was said to be 22,000.
Wrestling overseas today, Judo Al Hayes defeated Kazuo Sakurada, in Japan, on this day in 1976.
