I can understand what Anglo Italian is saying that the billing fails to acknowledge the value of the RAH trophy. Though that was a local opinion. I'm sure those of us in Preston, Barnsley or Kilmarnock didn't give a monkey's about the RAH trophy. But this was a DM show in DM land and was another missed opportunity. But as a brand, as some would say these days, Gordienko was way ahead of Nelson.
It's over 50 years ago so I don't think any of us have first hand knowledge to comment on Maivia's skill but I remember him as a very charismatic wrestler and this would have been an attractive main event.
