A Great Career MASKED WRESTLER would have to take on Anyone in the Game to
truly claim Greatness!!-KENDO NAGASAKI had Bouts against the Man he himself rated
as the BEST Heavyweight-BILLY ROBINSON!
So too did THE OUTLAW!-He Fought the very best Heavyweights that the British Ranks
could provide-many times-without Defeat during his 2 year or so Run in the mid '60's!-
EXCEPT of course KENDO NAGASAKI-although he did Tag WITH KENDO now and again!
So too with ZEBRA KID-and although he tasted Defeat on a few occasions-including Losing
his MASK to both COUNT BARTELLI AND THE OUTLAW- He didn't 'duck' Anyone either!
Thus to be a true Masked Great-you firstly had to be good enough to keep the MASK and
then Fight Anyone and Everyone!!
MAIN MASK
Gordon Nelson was one of the best.He could take care of anyone who "tried it on"if they were daft enough to do that
" No-one seemed to mind that he continued to wear his BLACK/WHITE STRIPED MASK!! !ll
Well, would you have told him?
Zebra kid didn't have the ring of invincibility but as you say Adrian he did wrestle the best. Apart from his losses against other masked men I think his losses against other masked men were few, though you have pointed out Andy Robin. I remember Joe Cornelius writing about tragic real life experiences of the Zebra Kid. I can't remember what, did he get swindled out of money or something.
Early in the 1950's George Bollas was struggling as a wrestler so he put on the mask and became the Zebra Kid he was popular with promoters because he was willing to lose and unmask, this meant that each time he unmasked he had to move on to another area.
Like you I rate the Zebra Kid highly.
