Or….that’s wrestling for you. One minute you’re top of the bill, facing one of the most famous names in sports history, then the next, they change your name and you become a bottom-feeder. “What, quit and give up show-biz’!
OK I think I have figured this out. I am convinced this was American wrestler, "Tiger" Joe Marsh, who was travelling in Europe with Primo Carnera in 1952. I guess the "Marsh" and "Moss" part, was a mix up.
Edit: Also, Larry Gains was a boxer, I think, he met with Carnera in London in 1932. Are we saying that 20 years later they were going to wrestle each other?
I believe you’ve come up trumps Saxon! Knowing of Tiger Joe, I think if he had been referred to as Tiger Joe Moss, I would have picked that up, the ‘missing’ Joe, bamboozled me, which goes to show I’m old and easily bambooooooozled!
Yes Peter, but who is he? A wrestler who took part in probably the most ballyhooed match that year (albeit as a sub) and so far zilch. I’m confident the weekend will bring clarity. Hopefully, Clarity will be able to enlighten us all.
Also 1952, we have a Pete Moss at the Royal Albert Hall
Brilliant Saxonwolf!

Great to find a clip of this 1952 match on Pathe Newsreel
