The wrestler whose name was spelt in the greatest variety of ways!
In the topic's title I have put the eyebrow-raising variant used in the opening programme on today's "On this Day..." topic. I'll repost it here in this context:
I'm wondering just how many other spellings we could group here?
Today he has drifted to nearly being a brother of Wimbledon's Eddie!
Got him like this plenty of times.
Yes, surely him, Hack, but spelt in so many ways.
Saxonwolf today:
"On our TV screens, on this day in 1965: -
Masambula v Roy St Clair
Peter Maivia v Pietro Capello"
Maybe he was Pietro Capello in The Wrestler; that's the spelling I associate with him.
In the A-Z there are quite a few variations but it was as Pedro La Chapelli (my favourite variant) I first became aware of him. Firstly on television in December 1962 and then he topped the bill at St James the following January when he was disqualified against Bill Rawlings. Totally disregarding the rules he really looked the part in his all white outfit however he soon slipped down the bill to a mid - card name who didn't live up to his initial hype.
