Yes and even though Joint knocked on his door Pete still seemed to carry on with his old mates. I am sorry I missed the Victoria Theatre in Salford (it was in Broughton ...wonder if bkendo1 remembers it )
but at least I got to the Lancastrian Hall in Swinton quite a few times for Jack Cassidy shows.
This week's Newsletter and tribute to Pete has now gone out.
On Friday Pete's son told some of Peter's friends he was going for a pint that night "for his dad." Sixty of them turned up. Isn't that a lovely tribute?
Pete was a regular during Best\Wryton days at Liverpool Stadium. Met the cream of heavyweights, from.Albert Wall, to Gwyn Davies & Kendo Nagasaki. Was always billed as 'Pat' A quality wrestler and really nice guy into the bargain. RIP Pete and thanks for the memories..
This is indeed very sad news. I met Peter twice, once around 1970 and again about ten years ago. He seemed a gentleman, modest and respectful of others. I tried to bait him about Shirley Crabtree. He was very respectful in acknowledging the latter's limitations.
Here are the arrangements for Peter's funeral:
Thursday 1st August 1.15pm at St Thomas's Church, Pendleton, then onto Agecroft Cemetery at 2.20pm.
Although I never met Pete, it's always sad to hear that another one of the wrestlers of my time has passed away.
RIP Pete

Splendid Ron. Thanks for those. I always preferred Pat Curry to Pete Curry. Some of you will understand what I mean.
One last tribute from myself , Pete's early days about the country. And also in his home town.
Tribute beautifully written
And also a fantastically written Tribute here on Heritage. Pete will be missed.

Unfortunately never saw Pete in the flesh, but enjoyed watching him when on TV, RIP Pete.

........and I then vividly recall him paying back as Shirley Crabtree's first tv opponent.
Very sad and a great friend to wrestling Heritage.
RIP
This is a very sad one for me as I remember Pete so well.
I remember at BelleVue there was no opponent for Big Daddy and they sent out for a local boy.
Pete came in and rolled Big Daddy for a winning pin and they cheered him on . Even Big Daddy clapped him off.
I remember him with Jack Cassidy on his shows and also watched his boys play Rugby league.
Here he is in 1978 as Champ.
R.I.P. Pete. 1934-2019
