Enjoying some time abroad, on this day in 1962, Lord Bertie Topham. (For some reason, I can't upload the poster for his appearance in Majorca!!, will keep trying).
Wrestling overseas today, Terry Rudge defeated Mustafa Shikane, in Cologne, Germany, on this day in 1973.
On our TV screens, on this day in 1971:-
Vic Faulkner (W) v Bill Connor
Bert Royal (DQ) v Steve Logan
Johnny South (0) v Steve Wright (1)
and in 1967
"The One where I Met MUHAMMED ALI!!"
Yes, when he came round to our house for tea he told us he had bumped into you.
Forget the wrestling Main Mask. Street was probably not even blond by then, Wall was just another heavy because he was from the far north, ditto Oakley and Nicol but of less interest because they didn't weigh as much.
No, the real interest here is the 5,000 Gold Bond Stamps given away. I'm not sure what they were but are more interesting than the wrestling. Does anyone remember them? I'm guessing they were like Green Shield Stamps we collected. My first watch was thanks to Green Shield stamps. Happy times spent licking them and sticking them in the book. For anyone too young to remember they were stamps given away when shopping as an incentive. They could be swapped for items listed in a catalogue. So my watch was probably for 2 or 3 books but there were items for seemingly impossible number of books.
