The Times newspaper of 20 February 2021 includes the obituary of Pat Paterson who in fact died late last year. He was one of the best known Canadian/ American wrestlers of the second half of the twentieth century. Do not know if he visited Europe

A lot of the Obits in The Times/Telegraph are of individuals not known by 99.9% of the population but very well known in a very narrow field
To be honest, it does seem to be a bit strange that a man who never wrestled over here in the UK, was not shown on TV when ITV started showing WWF shows on a Saturday afternoon, and apart from die-hard wrestling fans, would not be known by 99% of the UK population would have an obituary in the Times?
Patterson, was a top worker and a very important part of McMahon’s empire after he retired.
The fact that he was first openly gay wrestler may have had something to do with it.Not a gay or a gaybasher myself, but that is just a thought
Yes, but we can see why they were included. But Pat Paterson?
The Times has quite a track record for including wrestlers in the obits including not top level. In 2019 Andy Robin appeared although the attraction was more Hercules the Bear. Almost exactly one year earlier Tommy Billington also got a decent resume
Occasionally our wrestlers have received national press obituaries (Hayes, Bartelli, McManus, Pallo)
Why Pat Paterson? Any ideas?
