The British Wrestlers Reunion are deeply saddened to have to announce that former British Lightweight Champion Zoltan Boscik passed away peacefully earlier today aged 81 years in the care home in which he was residing in Christchurch, New Zealand with his wife Suzanne at his bedside holding his hand.
We send our condolences to Zoltans family and friends at this sad time.
Zoltan was a genuine native of Hungary and although only 16 when he left the country during the 1956 revolution, had valuable amateur experience which when he became a professional developed into great skill and ability.
Saw him many times on Paul Lincoln promotions. Excellent stylish wrestler who rarely topped the bill but who could always show any opponent how to wrestle. He was billed as coming from Hungary and his name bore that out... but whether he did or not is a totally different kettle of fish. His usual opponents were Jon or Peter Cortez, Bob Anthony and later, Jim Breaks. A sad week with Rocco also getting 10 bells. RIP...
Do not recall seeing him live but many times on TV. Another terrific wrestler. R.I.P. Zoltan.
One of the best lightweight wrestlers ever. He had an unorthodox style which was formidable and could compete on equal terms with anyone at his weight. He could also switch from "blue eye" to "heel" in a flash. A very sad loss and someone who is fondly remembered.
RIP GREAT CHAMPION, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN, THANKFUL FANS ALL OVER THE WORLD HAVE YOU IN THEIR HEARTS.
R.I.P.
The Hungarian Uprising of 1956 had fortuitous results for British Professional Wrestling bringing Zoltan and several others to the UK
A very,very skilled technician.R.I.P. Zoltan.
A great wrestler - I always liked to see villains who were great technicians too, they gave it huge credibility and you knew they could wrestle. Zoltan Boscik had a rather unorthodox style that made him stand out. Definitely one of my favourites, never saw him live but always on the telly. I can remember wrestling Ivan Trevors in a Yarmouth holiday camp and using the Boscik '3-in'1' grapevine only to be told later not to do it again - if Boscik found out i'd be in trouble ! RIP one of the greatest lightweights...
So sorry to hear the sad news. Condolences to the family.

Now almost half a century since he stepped in the ring with Jon Cortez at the Corn Exchange Bedford an excellent match and preserved on You Tube
Remember Zoltan well in a fine WOS match versus Johnny Kidd. A talented wrestler, who knew his stuff. RIP.
RIP Zoltan Boscik. A pleasure to watch his bouts. Wish i'd known he was in Christchurch during those years I was down there for wrestling shows.
A very sad loss ,zolly lovely man fine worker as Anglo rightly says versatile and skilled. His last year's in New Zealand have been difficut with this cruel illness.
I saw him wrestle lots of times. So versatile in adapting his style according to whether his opponent was a villain or not; likewise in tag. Signed a stylish autograph, too. But I could never get a word out of him.
I think he had his big Albert Hall bout against Le Petit Prince.
Discussing Bert Royal's wrestling brain yesterday; but this ability to vary his style is what made Zollie great, and clearly highly valued by Paul Lincoln and then immediately Dale Martin.
Saddened to hear this news. Like David I didn't get to see him live but always enjoyed him on TV. Many of the wrestlers seen on TV failed to stand out and merged into one. Not Zolly. He always had a hard edge with a bit of excitement.

Really was a most gifted wrestler who dates back to the 50's and I add on a terrific match that was worked at an explosive pace with Jim Breaks.
Gave Jim a real good bout.
That was a night that made me see just how good he was
RIP ZOLTAN
Sorry to hear this: although I never got to see him live I always enjoyed him on television. RIP
RIP, Zoltan. How long did he live in New Zealand for?
a superb wrestler R.I.P. Zoltan , my sympathies to his family and friends
