A decade ago Anglo Italian and Hack were whizzing through the Yorkshire Dales and concocted the Ladies of Wrestling countdown and added Raquel Welch at number 8.
The American film actress famously appeared in this Royal Albert Hall programme in December 1972. She was in England again to film Bluebeard alongside Richard Burton, and Mick McManus unsurprisingly appointed himself to be the wrestler to meet her on set.
Even Raquel’s glamorous support was not enough to save McManus as he succumbed on this bill for the first and only time to arch-rival, Jackie Mr TV Pallo.
As a lad, born in the 60's, I remember being in Junior School, and every young boy would have answered Raquel Welch, when asked "who is the most beautiful woman in the world?".
Her 'Stone Age Clobber' Was Hard To Beat GRAHAM!!
Her Birth Last Name Was TEJADA!!

I grew up fantasising about Raquel Welch. Obviously I recall her in her stone age clobber but particularly enjoyed her shenanigans in "Bedazzled" with Pete and Dud. I also recall her in "Myron Breckenridge" in which she co-starred with Mae West. I recall the scene where Mae West makes her way to her office passing a line of tall, handsome young men. She says to one, "And how tall are you?" to which he replies, "Six foot, seven inches." She throws open the office door and says, "Never mind the six foot, come in here and we'll talk about the seven inches."
