I would do it if I knew where to get hold of French TV listings magazines. Original bound copies of TVTimes are just a bus ride away from me at the Library Of Birmingham. Maybe there are archives over in France.

Everyone seems to be very vague about Le Catch sur la télé. No one seems sure when it was finally cancelled (or what the story there was - who was the French Greg Dyke/Jamie Kellner? ) or how or when it migrated from 1er Chaine to 2eme Chaine/Antenne 2 (important since the earlier it migrated, the more likely bouts 1968-1974 were in colour originally and might have salvageable chroma dots.) or even the final migration circa '85 to the FR3 network.

There are three language communities in Wales - English speakers, real Welsh speakers and trendy Welsh speakers. The real Welsh speakers - or "Gogs" - are mostly in the rural North, the English speakers in the industrial South and the trendies are the Cardiff middle classes. The English speakers hate the trendies for making them have to learn Welsh to get on. The Real Welsh speakers hate the trendies for using wierd words that they don't think are real Welsh (as Orig Williams said in his book.-some are indeed made-up words but others are leftovers from the mostly extinct South Wales dialect.)

I wonder how many of the Welsh words used to describe the holds in Reslo were hastily made up names?

My Welsh speaking relatives in North Wales feel similarly to Orig about the trendy Welsh speakers and the Welsh government in Cardiff. They have never managed to give me an English translation of the commentary during Reslo.

According to the 2021 census just 17.8 of the population of Wales speak Welsh.1981 recorded the lowest number 503000.For the S4C broadcasters part of the appeal of Reslo was that it would attract the non Welsh speakers

Thanks 1978 Kid, now corrected. The first Reslo was on 10th November, 1982, the second Wednesday of S4C's transmissions.

Remember it well - I was living in Aberystwyth at the time and having wrestling on TV twice a week was a great novelty!
