Roy Bull Davis was a great villain alongside the likes of Jim Hussey, Danny Lynch, Bruno Elrington and Ian Campbell. Yet whilst we've had our moments waxing lyrical over the others we've had few memories of Roy Bull Davis. He's our latest addition to Personality Parade.

Yes Joe D'Orazio , I think it was him and Kidd Promoting.
More Italian than Japanese I suspect
But who was Kito Tani :
There you go Hack , born Frank December 1929 in Barnsley.
death registered as BRUNO
Logan and a few others did the same.
Splendid Ron. Alf Robinson on there too. Do you know Bruno was Bill? I know you know most things, but I thought he was Frank. Maybe both are true. Something for you to investigate for us.
Here is a very early bill featuring Charlie Northey. And a bit later revealing Bruno's real name.
One of the great heavyweights that I regret never seeing live.
Skull Murphy remembered for his famous submission moves. A fantastic heel, Pete Roberts usually on the receiving end.
And wouldn't it be wonderful if Skull Murphy would join us on here?
Roy Bull Davis was the father of the Indestructible Skull Murphy, and also trained Frankie Chic Cullen for the professional ring.
Really looked the part of a villainous pro-wrestler. Didn't win very often, did he? Like Yearsley, that wasn't his role.
Strange that through the seventies he should have been the referee enforcing the rules - but he often ended up getting involved.
The moment Roy "Bull" Davis stepped into the wrestling ring, you immediately knew what was going to happen, and there was no disappointment ,as he was a 'heel" of the highest order and always provided superb entertainment. I understand he had a pretty tough early life so any adverse comments made concerning his wrestling style made little impression.
I particularly enjoyed his "feud" with "Dazzler" Joe Cornelius which prompted some television coverage, and the fact when I saw him pitted against fellow villains, he always played the "heel". A wonderful character from the halcyon days of wrestling.
Thanks Ost. I wonder, was there a Swede Larsen? Or was he another Laurie Boyd?
A neat profile on Roy Bull Davis I recently came across:
I always enjoyed Bull Davis. Similar in style and temperament to tag partner Jim Hussey. Being a heavyweight villain was being part of a crowded stage at that time though.
