We've discussed Nonga Womba previously

I'm not persuaded that this 1954 Morrell man was the same as the fella with the other funny name that worked for Oakeley.
Not only that, I've just noticed he's already in the A-Z!
Sorry Bernard, my wording. Morrell took him on to be an invincible bill-topper, which is what he immediately became. I was not saying that Masambula had been either previously. Bongwonga hadn't been either.
Yes, Ron, great find. Certainly Guyana, then.
Well done Ron. Time Detective strikes again.
In 1954 he was age 35 and claimed to have been Middleweight and light heavy weight Boxing champ of West indies.
O.K. boys , another one for the A-Z Hack , the Detective got lucky.
Real name Henwood Adrian from Bradford. Originally a boxer from British Guiana who loved art and only wrestled to get enough money to paint. Says he wrestled Norman Morrell in Paris in 1948.
He was in lodgings here and seems to have been on tour for Morrell in 1954.
Lent out here to Relwyskow.
I could throw a similar name in the mix and hope it jolts Bernard into remebering this show.
Masambula had been a regular at Newcastle since January 1952 so it seems unlikeley to have been him.
Just considering the dates, it's a longshot, but ... could Bongawonga be Masambula? After all, Morrell took him on straight away as an undefeated bill-topper, as Bernard recalls. So Masambula must have had substantial experience beforehand...
Once again I beg to differ with you Anglo, or someone taking your name in vain. Did you post this?
Thanks Bernard, I didn't say you had said Masambula was invincible. It's in the Bartelli book that Masambula had had a long undefeated streak. Like Nagasaki's no doubt - meaning that the undefeated streak included defeats ☺
"But it Bills BONGAWONGA from GUINEA!!-ANGLO!!" - please check the print. It reads to me as Guiana. Have you got the original?
None of this really matters: Masambula was from Trinidad, just not billed from there.
And we certainly shouldn't believe much of what Sir Atholl wrote in his hype.
What does matter is that, on what we know so far, height and weight and date wise, and descriptions, Bongawonga could easily have been Masambula. The only way to exclude this theory would be to uncover a photo of Bongawonga.
Hi Anglo, I never said that Masambula was undefeated. He topped the bill and had a lot of publicity in the weeks leading up to his first contest, but he had a lot to learn in my eyes.
£1 to the losers.
What do you know about Golden Arrow Main Mask? He only seems to work for Oakeley in 1950 and in September lost to Alex Cadier at Harringay in a European championship match.
He's 14 stone and 6 feet. So was Masambula.
Masambula switched around between Ghana and Gambia but Guyana would be nearer to Trinidad where we think he was really from.
I'm starting to convince myself of my theory.
Bongawonga talked about 50 years later

I'm not saying that. Bongawonga was clearly much defeated.
Masambula was invincible for years, however.
Just considering the dates, it's a longshot, but ... could Bongawonga be Masambula?
After all, Morrell took him on straight away as an undefeated bill-topper, as Bernard recalls. So Masambula must have had substantial experience beforehand...
And now We have KING BONGAWONGA Taking-On The GOLDEN ARROW!
Note MARIO MAGISTI in this Tournament also!!
+ A EUROPEAN LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT Title Contest!!
