For anyone of a certain age, the name "Double Diamond" immediately brings to mind the TV advert with the famous catchphrase "I'm only here for the beer", and famous jingle, "Double Diamond works wonders, so drink one today"
Thanks for the info Hack, appreciate. I've never heard of those trophies. It's something new to me. Always ready to learn more about titles and trophies.
The Colbeck trophy is from Croydon, 27th August, 1963.
Competitors Eddie Capelli/LindeCaulder/Alan Colbeck/Jack Dempsey/John Foley/Ted Hannon/Peter Rann/Pasquale Salvo.
I don't know the results other than Colbeck, Foley, Dempsey and Caulder were in the semi Finals and Colbeck beat Foley in the final. The trophy was called the "Double Diamond Trophy" (that was a beer Ruslan) and donated by Ind Coope Brewery.
There was another knock out the following year on 15th September, 1964
Could not resist another Wryton Special.
