A bit more about Fred Morley. Born 1920 in Rose Hill, Bryn, which I think is Ashton in Makerfield. In 1950 was living in Ince, married with a daughter. Died 1970, living in Old Road, Ashton.
Thanks bkendo1. So was Martin the one you were specifically referring to? Or is there more of a mystery to unfold.
Well as usual complicated. Before Max invented names who would never show the names Curly King was used for unconfirmed opponents and certainly Martin Conroy used the name a lot,Jack Atherton explained that amongst Wigan lads Curly King was akin to I'm Spartacus.
Ost you for sure have seen and heard of Curly King in another guise,Hacks seen him live and IV shared mints with him,I'll reveal all if super Tec Ron doesn't deduce.

The Curly King we have in the A-Z was a fella called Freddy Morley. He was from Wigan. Or is there another one Paul?
Don't know if he came from Ince , but thinking Jack Dempsey.
Jack Alker was from Ince , but he was not about at this time.

Taffy Jones will be added to the Local Heroes series this Sunday.
Wills is in the A-Z, Morrow isn't. What do we (by that I mean the rest of you know about Al Morrow), other that he was Canadian.
Taffy was no small timer , he did all of the big halls and was part of that massive effort in the north that kept wrestling going all through the war.
Another one who no doubt thought he would be long forgotten by now. As he would have been were it not for Ron. We keep on finding them.
Taffy was as hard as Snowdon!
Right back in 1937 Billy Riley sorted out the Roster for Nelson. promoter T Storr.
Here was Taffy mixing with those Lancashire Guys.
