Off the top of my head I don't recall mask v mask matches in the 1930's and I am wondering if Bartelli with Wryton was actually the pioneer of them. He certainly did plenty to build himself up. I would not take much notice of the 7 year undefeated streak , I think at this stage after the war the Count had done less than 2 years with a mask after being Jess Condor before the war. This example is the earliest I have found of Bartelli doing mask v mask. Shame there have been so many masked marvels. A wonderfully descriptive Report.

Johnny King was from Doncaster and said to have trained Albert Wall.
Here he is in Edinburgh in 1947, tantalisingly a bottom of the bill sensation!
All up in the north.....very little dahn south
A punch? What on earth were the rules?
Johnny was probably a punter at the garage and The Count talked him into doing a couple of bouts.
A good find Ron, and as you say, a marvelous report. can't you just imagine a dazed Bartelli crawling back into the ring. Well, we did see that so often.
But we do have a 1930s unmasking in 1939 when Dark Owl unmasked Red Mask. Then in 1940 Blue Mask unmasked Green Asp and Red Owl unmasked Black Owl.
