In the Late 1940's a Young Man started to Appear regularly in BRITISH Rings!
He had his First Professional Bout at Age 16-1/2 and by 1951 his Weight was up to 230
Pounds!-A YORKSHIRE Man thru and thru THE FARMER was a Real Life Farmer!
Working the Land gave this Young Man Exceptional Upper Body Strength and Stamina
in Abundance! He utilised the Former to Perfect his Devastating Finishing Move-the
Elbow Slam which usually 'put paid' to any Foe!-Imagine the Force of that Powerful
Shoulder behind this Blow! He utilised the Latter to 'outlast' his Opponent because he
preferred to Wrestle rather than always resort to his K.O. Move!
He Fought All the Top Names of the Time-and was one of the very few Wrestlers who
didn't try to Swerve BERT ASSIRATI when he was BRITISH HEAVYWEIGHT Champion!
Below some Rare Photos of THE FARMER-An Interesting Article and some very Rare Bills
from 1953!!
MAIN MASK
I enjoyed the article Main Mask. A contrast from the days of the Wrestler when two pages told us nothing to this when there was an appearance of telling us something but still said nowt.
I particularly liked the bit when he praised the Mountevans rules because it would help the foreigners - giving them something to study.
