I remember the newsreels when Atholl Oakeley brought Doyle to London and said that he was going to beat everybody.
It turned out that Doyle was certainly not going to get hurt and the matches against Martin Bucht, Kurt Zene and especially Two Ton Tony Galento proved this to be the case.
In short Doyle did want the publicity and the money but not the job.
