With the ‘anything goes’ mentality today, I think that if an interviewer in Britain asked the ‘fixed, is it’ question, they’d be in danger of a David Shultz slap or Hogan choke as happened in the States years back. On the other hand Adrian did look as though he hurt Russel Harty when he was interviewed on Harty’s show all those years ago.
Yes, it nags away at the pay question, even mentions the fix word, but remains respectful. These days we wouldn't be allowed anything so gentle and enjoyable, there would have to be some sensational angle.
Love that bouncy sixties way of writing about wrestling. They start off by saying how Knowing they are that it's fixed ... and proceed to describe it as a true sport.
However....I am not at all happy about the caption of Barry Douglas. It looks like Clayton Thomson to me, what do others think?

Really good piece, Benny shows respect and doesn't try to be clever or cute. He was always interesting be it on radio, tele. or through his writings.

Yes, a great piece, and it's almost as if the journalist really wants to say "...so, does the tax man know what you earn in a year?..."
A fascinating piece. Timely to have Steve Clements included on this anniversary of his untimely death.
