Nothing to do with wrestling, but annually I would promote Gene "Mighty Flea" Connors (trombonist) who would come over every July for The Birmingham Jazz Festival and fit in a visit to me for one of my shows and he always wore leather trousers. he claimed that they absorbed the sweat and kept him cool in hot weather.
I was on a train with Johnny Kidd. Two other passengers recognised Johnny and started talking. I'm not sure how it came out but they were shocked to hear Johnny was only one year younger than me.
This was 2016, the year Johnny Saint was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Johnny Kidd. It was a boiling hot day, one of the hottest but like Mr Shelvey states Johnny Saint remained cool all day despite being in his leathers.
I should add that J.S. (Saint not Shelvey) wore his full leathers most of the day and his leather trousers all day, on a boiling hot day. I talked to him twice during the day and he didn't look at all hot or uncomfortable.

I shall leave you to draw your own conclusions.
