What about Mancelli title claims of 1955? Where does that come from? He did have a physical belt, not sure what it was but he usually referred to as the belt holder during 1955...thought it wasn't JP's Belt neither it was Southern Area Belt.
By the way in August 1951 Dave Armstrong is called - Leading Claimant for the British Hwt Title, and in November he obviously is No 1 Challenger. So whatever happened between August and November 1951...that's when Baldwin got the original Lord Mount Evans Silver belt symbolic of the British heavyweight championship. Was it a KO Tourney win? Or it was a single match victory? Or may be it was a 'recognition'? WE DO NOT KNOW AS OF YET.
Ruslan said "I think Baldwin was awarded the title ,meaning he received championship recognition by JP on conditions of defending his championship against all comers."
Sorry to disappoint you Ruslan, but wrestling didn't work like that, at least under JP
Wrestlers were put under contract and had to fight whoever they were billed against.
Often wrestlers did not know who they were meeting until they arrived and saw the posters outside the venue.
This idea of wrestlers being given conditions like you suggest, are just wrong.
I hope some of the boys who actually did it, will come on here and back me on this.
That list of champions at the start looks like Joint Promotions champions.
ATTENTION, ATTENTION, ATTENTION: THE BELT TONY MANCELLI HELD IN 1955 WAS 'COVETED THE RING OF BLACKFRIARS CHAMPION BELT'.
That belt was around since 1935, to the best of my knowledge.
all good, I talked to Ray 2 weeks ago on Facebook.
Sorry, that post should have been to The Ost.
My computer seems to have developed a hitch where the first page opens but I can't get it to go to Page 2
Hi Ruslan , Thankyou, but they are not my results, they are Ray Plunketts.
Unfortunately we seem to have lost Ray at present. Hopefully he will come back when he can.

Baldwin became champion at some point between August and November 1951...any info will be highly appreciated.
Hi Bernard, thanks for weighing in on this. Your collection of Newcastle results is really helpful.
26/1/52 Ernie Baldwin k o Dave Armstrong. Title fight.
I know that Baldwin beat Armstrong in a title fight at Newcastle about that time.

these two bills speak pretty clear on this matter...in early May 1951 Baldwin wasn't champion, in early November he's called NEW JP's champion.
I don't think Clark was billed as a champion in that match.
Baldwin was reigning JP's British Hwt Champion and veteran wrestler George Clark was challenger.
November 10th, 1951 NEWCASTLE
Baldwin beat George Clark (BRIT HEAVY TITLE)
Hi Ruslan, I suggest that you read the A-Z of wrestlers for George Clark.
That might well give you a lead into what you are looking for.

Dear Main Mask do you have image of Tony Mancelli with a championship belt? Photo would be from 1954-55. Thanks. R
If Baldwin did beat Clark to win British title, it was not at Newcastle.
Previous meeting there was on 5/5/51 when Baldwin won 2-1.
Clark was billed as Former Champion of the World!. Baldwin as most popular wrestler, no title mentioned there.
Dale/Martin backed Mancelli in 55? Or he had another boss?
Sorry, last post was George Clark.
Hi Ruslan, look at Ron 's Galleries. Bills for Newcastle 1951/2 no. 35 of 69.
This bill shows Baldwin as New British Heavyweight Champion . George Clar, Challenger, Scottish Heavyweight Champion.
