Continuing our Theme of Wrestlers visiting our Shores from Overseas-especially in
the early 1960's- Another Spaniard arrived into our Rings mainly Wrestling on Independent
Bills-This was TONY MARTINEZ-Billed as a 'Champion of Europe'!
He proved Popular-Fighting from Middleweight to Light-Heavy-His Style was typically
Continental-Classy and Speedy!
This type of Wrestler was often used in 'Supporting Contests' and brought a bit of an
'Exotic' Flavour to Bills with his Tanned and Rippling Physique!
Didn't spot him in the A-Z so we can add him now!
Photo-Programme to follow!!
MAIN MASK
I haven't come across this one before, and searching the net found nothing. There was Rudo Martinez who came over here, but he was a heavyweight.
I did find a dew other independent matches for him, against George Kidd, Al Miquet, Peter Rann, Zoltan Boscki , Linde Caulder, Roger Green and tagging with Jon Cortez
What else do we know? Did he do any work for Joint?
Was he actually Spanish. The limited period bookings against class opposition suggest he was a genuine visitor, but then again he may have been the bloke from down the chip shop. The programme says Spanish, but then he's on again that other well known Spaniard Jon Cortez.
