Went home from London 31st May 1935 to new York. Address at that time 64 Waterloo Road and the ship was the American Trader. he was in Australia in 1937.
Busy wrestler in North America.
Bill below from Vancouver. and working at Belle Vue in 1935 for Kath Look.
Sailor Jack Arnold was a very aggressive wrestler, who clashed with Assirati three times in 1934 and 1935 at The Ring, Blackfriars. He smashed into Assirati, and slung Assirati out of the ring three times in one round, each time Assirati smashed ringside seats with his heavy weight, and three seats had to be removed. It was described as the "fight of the year" but the more Arnold attacked Assirati, and kept lifting him up and body slamming him, the more tired he became, until Assirati moved in body slammed him twice, and pinned him. Arnold tried to continue, but his shoulder was injured, and he was forced to retire. If a wrestler was big, strong, tough, and all aggression Assirati would work with him again, and again, and again. The wrestler would then go back to America, and inform the promoters he had worked with Assirati on a number of occasions, and held his own, and would then demand double the wage of the other wrestlers.
John where did the newspaper cutting come from, and can yoiu send me a copy of the article.
