Long before JAKE 'THE SNAKE' ROBERTS graced WWF Wrestling Rings in America
there was N'BOA-THE SNAKEMAN Appearing in British Rings!-A VOODOO-LIKE Character
-he was accompanied by his BOA CONSTRICTOR into the Ring and appeared to be in
some kind of 'Trance'-Perhaps not a Fella for some of the Younger Fans?!
Did Anyone see this Witchdoctor Wrestle?
What OTHER Weird and Wonderful Wrestling Characters have YOU seen?
How did they go down with Audiences?

Thanks to everyone for sharing their memories, much appreciated, love this subject. Very interesting.
I saw a "Mad Axe Man"at a Joint show in Doncaster...he was masked, and beat his blood splattered oponent who I think was called Rob Lincoln.Albert Wall was Top of the Bill supposedly versus Giant Haystacks.Haystacks no showed and was replaced by Klondyke Jake who was swiftly KO'd by Albert. The Axe Man then jumped into the ring and challenged Albert, who KO'd him with his flying headbutt. He was unmasked, and looked remarkably like Banger Walsh.
I'm afraid it's all a bit of a blur, Hack. I do remember he was doing the rounds with a limited pool of opponents. Pablo the Gypsy and Gypsy Smith were in the mix; but then I think he turned our to be one of these. I only saw him once and I am afraid he didn't leave a lasting impression.
What I do recall clearly was that I must have caught him on an off-day, because a fellow fan that night had seen him plenty of times elsewhere and told me of his atrocities, but the whole thing was bordering on comedy.
I think he was more of a Devereaux Promotions wrestler, but could be wrong.
I think we should add Chris Colt into this category even though he wasn't here long he was certainly weird - in so many ways. By all accounts, though, when his head was on straight he was a very capable and skilled wrestler.
The Mad Axeman was a bit weird. Maybe his name lends a slight clue.
The original Undertaker, before the masked pair, was a touch weird. Bearded Victorian type accompanied by his helper carrying his coffin to the ring.

Here's the early Masambula outfit that Bernard once told us about. Not quite as charismatic as we remember him.
Masambula was a big hit at Newcastle early in his career, before he became a little more orthodox.
