Where Did it all Go Wrong?

Life is not a bowl of semolina with dollop of jam. In the good old days at Wembley Town Hall it was never like this (except on the Saturday night dance).

When did it become acceptable for wrestlers look to like this?

There was always a build up up of excitement as a wrestler came in, even if it was Billy tock.... I think this is stupid beyond belief. What do you think?

I'm listening to Jim Cornette's radio show as I type this. "Wrestlers who don't look like wrestlers" are clearly a worldwide phenomenon and the APPALLING All Elite Wresting in the US are leading the way.

I totally agree, and if you still go to shows regularly you soon find the good ones and leave the ones that you don't enjoy by the wayside.

This promotion is clearly aiming at children during the Easter vacation.There are still plenty of promotions were wrestlers look like wrestlers

Some Promotions like to label themselves family friendly, others don't. Instead of turning up blindly find out about the promotions and previous shows. A good promotion will make sure they have something for everybody . When was it aimed at kids, I would say Big Shirley being marketed as the kids favourite and appearing on Tiswas etc and appearing in comics, Catweazle based on the kids show. Then we started getting the larger than life WWF wrestlers complete with the accompanying souvenirs, figures etc specifically aimed at kids. In this country we had promotions trying to emulate this and introducing characters like the wrestling Power Ranger and knock offs of WWF/WCW wrestlers . The kids get the parents to spend money at the shows on various merchandise , Brian Dixon pushing the sponge hands like a barrow boy selling oranges immediately comes to mind but his shows usually had a good balance across the bill. Door money is only part of what keeps a promotion going be they large and small, merchandise, meet and greets, raffle etc can be the difference to being in business and closing the door so whether we like it or not families are essential at shows, they spend.
