Well I suppose Mad Marple beats Mad Mitchell as at Liverpool stadium.I missed another pointer the mention of Verne Gagne he'd mentioned that he wanted to visit England, not to test snake pits school but holiday with a couple of cherry picked venues and opponents,he was courted through a go between by Dales but they got word a certain northern promoter had offered a contract and they withdrew interest.
Call me cynical but I wonder if George actually shared these opinions ,I suspect on previous evidence that this was creative writing developed on Brixton Road,it seems Mascall was trying a reverse physcology angle.Notice Southern venues quoted no mention of Belle Vue etc.
A good find John. I remember reading the Charles Mascall article. George makes some decent points but has a selective memory. Doesn't he remember Davies, Mitchell, Hayes, Elrington .... ? The first time Riley's gym referred to as a factory. And the first time Britain attracting wrestlers from around the world seen as a negative.

We won't call you cynical. Miss Marple yes.

I must say, I‘m surprised that he was put over so many of our guys.
That is a really interesting piece, it's almost breaking "kayfabe"!
