I was talking with my dad about family history this weekend, and he mentioned that his cousin married a wrestler whose real name was Freddie Beanland. He doesn't know what his ring name was, and said that he didn't think he was a big name. It would have been in the 50s or 60s I think, and in Manchester - does this mean anything to anyone? I was quite excited by this news and would love to know who he was.

It's a shame. Quite often when a wrestler has a ring name , there is a slip up and we can find a bill where his real name is used , but not in this case. There are very few joint promotions men not identified which makes me wonder if he worked on the smaller scene of the Manchester night clubs. They were full of wrestlers who adopted names. A few years ago we found out that one Big Mike McGurn was actually Derek Oldham who had been with Joint Promotions for a good handful of years.
Afraid not - there's nothing more than the bare bones that I've given here.
Anyone in the family got a picture of him or a description.
I don't have anything to reveal - I chose the name just because it was one of my favourite moves to see when I was watching the wrestling as a child - so unlike anything else that anyone did at the time.
Thanks for looking - I'm not hugely hopeful of getting an answer here, but I can't think of anywhere else that I'm more likely to!
Thanks Zoltan Boscik Special. Tell us why you chose that name. You obviously have more to reveal.
You've set an almost impossible task. I've found a Freddie Beanland who fell off a ladder and one killed in a car crash. Fortunately both well away from Manchester.
