I saw the masked outlaw (Karl Kramer) unmasked after being beaten by Kendo at the Victoria Leisure Centre in Nottingham. I think it was in the late 70's or early 80's
Max Crabtree went through a series of "Unmaskings" at Liverpool Stadium, mostly " rent-a-hoods" or cannon fodder and invariably Phil Pearson & Brian Hunt, the "Men Of Mystery". The only genuine unmasking I witnessed featured Eddie Hamill (Kung Fu) V Kendo Nagasaki, which was doing the rounds at the time I think?
In retrospect, I didn't give masked men the respect they deserved in my promoting days. As I've lamented before, I wish I'd kept records of my shows but I didn't. At the time I was too busy promoting them. But unmaskings on my shows which come to mind are:-
Jackie "Mr.TV" Pallo unmasking Le Diable Rouge (un) at The Civic Hall, Bollington, in a mask versus hair contest. Revealed as Pete Lindberg
A battle of the masked men at the Town Hall, Sandbach, with an unmasking guaranteed. I even forget the masked names (I think it was Doctor Death versus The Outlaw) and again Pete Lindberg removed the bonnet.
Dave Newman beat The Outlaw at The Parr Hall, Warrington, causing him to unmask and reveal himself as Kevin Cawley. Newman then went into business for himself taking the microphone and begging Cawley to put the mask back on as he was frightening children in the audience.
I'm sure there were more but they don't come to mind at the moment. Other wrestlers who wore bonnets for me included Bill Clarke, Ian Wilson, Eddie Rose and Tony Francis.
I saw kendo unmask kung fu at the royal Albert hall
Mr x(ed wensor) unmask the white phantoms ( gypsy Joe Smith &Bobby burns) at Wimbledon Palais
Marino/Bronson unmask the destroyer in tag with kendo at Croydon kendo did a runner leaving the destroyer to unmask nobody knew who he was not even Mike Judd the mc!!
The masked inferno unmasked the executioner as Gordon corbett at manor place baths.
Dr Death unmask The White Angel (Hayes) I also saw L'Homme Masque defeat Der Henker in Paris and take off his mask. Unfortunately the Henker had another one underneath and escaped.
It was 1961 at Ilford Baths Shirley Crabtree v The Monster (Big John Wade).
Their first match ended in a no contest when the Monster threw Crabtree out of the ring then climbed out after him and the match continued outside of the ring.
A rematch took place with Crabtree winning by a knockout.

But Nagasaki became unmasked multiple times.
He had a different gig, didn't he? I don't think he was ever defeated and cermoniously revealed in ring at the end of a bout.
He cunningly devised all sorts of "illegal" unmaskings during the bout. Similarly, I can't recall any other masked wrestler doing that.
100% original Nagasaki in these respects.
Thanks SaxonWolf. Yes it is on here somewhere.
Yes, it was Lincoln, and he unmasked to Peter Maivia.
Thanks Saxo. I've a vague memory this was mentioned some time back. Can you remind me? Was it Lincoln?
Dr. Death unmasked Hack.
Those seeing a genuine career masked man reveal all were fortunate.
After all Nagasaki, Bartelli, L'Ange Blanc did only the one unmasking.
Zebra Kid, White Angel, and (I think) Kung Fu did unmask on more than one occasion.
I don't think The Outlaw, Ghoul (Bates), Dr Death, Les Diables Rouges
The Undertakers did unmask.
Most of the unmaskings seem to be from the Crabtree "rent a hood" period as Frank Thomas aptly put it.
Once saw Barry Douglas get "unmasked" and even very young children knew it was him because he had already fought earlier in the evening

I saw Kendo unmask a White Angel at Belle Vue in the early 1970's. I think he also did it at the Houldsworth.
He had a few names but Martin Conroy specifically identified him as Gypsy Joe Roman.
It was a very poor performance. Kendo crashed him with no resistance at all , I can't even understand them putting this on.

Alan
Kung Fu by Kendo,it did the rounds before Mick unmasked him on
Who was The Mad Axeman , and who unmasked him ?
